Do weather events count as an event?

Just fresh off a horrific commute Tuesday afternoon  ( http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=258753&src=1 ) , we are getting slammed with another Winter storm here in the Chicago region, up to a foot of snow!

See detailed warning: http://www.weather.com/weather/alerts/localalerts/USIL0225?phenomena=WS&significance=W&areaid=ILZ014&office=KLOT&etn=0007&from=36hr_winterWarn_golf

Wintry mix all through tomorrow morning - we are supposed to fly to Orlando tomorrow morning. Looks like we might not escape it.

melting as of 5:00 p.m. 12/18/08 but will probably freeze and leave a nice sheet of slick ice in the a.m. Wear your track shoes with the cleats!

Ya we were supposed to get a couple inches of snow today but it just ended up raining all day. Now the roads are freezing over and every is turning to ice.

I was kind of hoping for snow.

Colleen is driving home from New York in all of this :-( I hope she's okay!

Although we were in Florida the last week, Chicago seemed quite nice today, maybe in the upper 20's? Certainly much better than it's been lately from what I hear... I think we picked a good week to scoot/scoodable out of Chicago :-)

We joke that it's only two blocks away so you would never have to drive or take a taxi, but Friday might be the exception!

Eric

yes, that's four R's!

A wind chill warning remains in effect until noon cst /1 pm est/ today.

West winds around 10 mph combined with temperatures well below zero will result in wind chills of 25 to 45 below zero this morning. Temperatures and wind chills will slowly moderate after sunup and rise out of warning criteria by noontime.

These low wind chills are very dangerous. If you venture outside... Make sure to cover all exposed skin.

A wind chill warning means the combination of wind and very cold air will create dangerously low wind chill values. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.

I was in Web Security training most of the week. We hosted the speaker in a smll room here in columbia, MO but we had 15 other locations watching our presenter including Univ of MN (-33 wind chill), West Point military, Univ of Maine, and Univ of CO. We compared temps a few times which made us here in columbia feel lucky, despite the bitter 42 degree weather ;-)

Do bundle up, but remember that its easy to migrate south these days. love you.
