Arena Football Cancels Season
The Arena Football League canceled its 2009 season subject to agreement of the players union.

I don't think I ever saw an Arena Football League game, even on TV..
However, I did go to an XFL game at Soldier field in 2001... RIP.

I went to an arena football game a few years back. It was pretty interesting...definitley a much quicker paced game. It doesn't surprise me that they canceled their season though, most sports companies are losing a ton of money in this recession. The NFL just cut a ton of jobs and are losing sponsors left and right!

Isn't that XFL team from Chicago called the Bears?

Oh...Sorry. I was watching the Bears on day...and I guess they just looked like an Arena Football team :D
Oh, enough joking around. What I'd really like to know is why the X-games are still around, and why does it have to be on practically every weekend on NBC? Besides, how many times do we have to watch some punk kids jumping on their bikes?

Yes, they ARE really fast... also their no-huddle offense is the best in the league.
You have another opportunity to watch them - next Monday night playing Green Bay in Chicago.
I'll be watching the game from Florida!

What is the X-games? Is that the Olympics for queers?

No, it's not for "queers". [ by the way, you may want to give some input to the gay thread...I'm sure it would be welcomed]
No, the X-games are for all the people who should be working for pizza hut - if it weren't for big endorsements like Mountain Dew. They do have talent - like jumping bmx bikes, or riding skateboards, however you just get the feeling that 1) they will get themselves killed or 2) they will be hanging out in some "bud's apartment in their 50's and 60's. Oh, and NBC seems to have them on EVERY weekend. How many times can I stay interested in watching someone flip a bike. [ the only motivation is to see someone crash - but that's the same thing that keeps me into NASCAR].

Haha I love the X-games (but maybe that's because I'm one of those young people who should be working for pizza hut :-P) I know it's kind of hard for the "older" generation to get into it but I think they've done a great job of finding a talent and advertising. They're pushing the limits of their equipment and bodies to entertain. I don't see how that is any worse than some of the sports they have in the Olympics. I tried "bmx" for about 6 months and it is much much harder than it looks. The amount of strength, courage (maybe stupidity), and balance required to do even some of the basic tricks was trying for me. I couldn't even imagine trying some of them on a skateboard or snowboard!
Plus it's fun watching people fall...if you ever get a chance and the younger kids aren't around check out Scarred on MTV which you can find on the internet. It's just videos of amateurs doing stupid skateboard/bmx/rollerblade stunts and hurting themselves. Some of the videos are semi graphic (broken bones you can hear/see break through the skin) but it's pretty funny too!
Edit: I just realized my little discussion here does not really go along with the topic haha, whoops!

Yeah, I loved the X-games at first too. But then they kept showing it weekend after weekend on NBC. Guess that's the price I pay for only having 6 - over air channels :(

There is plenty of this to see on Youtube. Agreed, it's kinda fun to watch people crash. Watched someone skateboard off about 15 ft of concrete stairs. He landed about 4 stars from the bottom, and of course smacked hard. Don't sign me up for Mr. Compassionate, because it was rather entertaining :D
